Rent a Paris Apartment
in the heart of Montmartre
This attractive apartment occupies the top floor of a small, 3-story building dating from the mid-19th Century. It is located near the top of rue Tholoze, an exceptionally quiet street that has no through traffic. The rue Tholoze ends in a flight of steps running up to the Moulin de la Gallette, one of the four remaining windmills in Paris, which dates from the time that Montmartre was a village on the outskirts of the city.
The main room is a large open-plan living space that incorporates the kitchen and dining area. The old exposed beams provide an interesting architectural feature that makes the room particularly light.
The well-equipped kitchen has all the usual appliances, including a separate freezer, microwave oven, and dishwasher, as well as a washer & dryer.
The apartment is furnished with quality quenn-sized matresses, lovely antiques and original art - fitting for a part of paris famous for the artists who have lived and worked here.
The
master bedroom and a small bathroom also open off the living area on the
main floor. The bedroom is particularly peaceful as it overlooks a small courtyard in the
rear of the building.
Upstairs, in what used to be an attic space, there is a study and large bedroom area. Despite the low ceilings it has a feeling of openness brightened by several skylights.
Anyone who really wants to experience Paris - and live like a Parisian while doing so - will be delighted with the chance to stay in a charming apartment in one of Paris' most famous and fascinating quarters. Our visitors are without exception enchanted with this vibrant neighborhood, which includes the only remaining vineyard in Paris.
Local streets
such as rue Lepic and rue des Abbesses, are famous for the number, quality and
variety of the food stores and resaurants that line them. Paris'
fabric district, the Marché
St. Pierre, lies at the foot of Sacré Coeur, only a few minutes walk
away.
Montmartre is also famous for its association with both Impressionism and Modern Art. Picasso's studio, the Bateau Lavoir, is around the corner from the rue Tholoze, and some of Renoir's best-known paintings were done just up the street. Toulouse-Lautrec found much of the inspiration for his famous work at the Moulin Rouge a short distance down the hill in Pigalle. Montmartre is still filled with galleries, and street artists abound. It is a community that retains its identity within the richness that is Paris.
The property is managed by a young Canadian woman living in Paris, who will meet visitors and can be called upon for help when the need arises.
